Winter on the Farm
January has finally ended. Why is it always the longest month of the year? January started out unseasonably warm. It brought our blueberries out of dormancy, and the grass was green. Our family enjoyed so much time outside. We added garden beds, and new water spigots. Our poor Bella girl got hit by a car so she had surgery. She's been enjoying the indoor life...well as much as a double-coated Anatolian Shepard can.

This past week though, winter hit and she was RUDE! We got a thin layer of sleet and ice with about 7-8 inches of snow. It was bitterly cold. We managed to keep our power on during the storm. Our family stayed bundled up playing board games until way too late most nights. We were so grateful for the fun family time, but we are outside people. After about 3 days cabin fever started kicking in.
Now that it is warming up(34 degrees), we are looking forward to what spring has to offer. I know. I know. There is a long way to go until then, but with more sunlight and the "heatwave" one can't help but crave the next season.

Looking forward to the next months on the farm we have a lot of excitement. Our pig Roxy is due any day now. It is time to start the garden seeds inside. I am planning our next few weeks worth of work on the trees. And hopefully before too long we get to add in some beef cows. Just looking for that right set to join the farm.
Until next time!
